Ravenswood company closing doors

Approximately 40 jobs affected

RAVENSWOOD — Medical Claims Service (MCS) is closings its doors, the company’s parent corporation announced Friday.

The first in a series of scheduled layoffs is scheduled to begin December 12.

EBS-RMSCO, Inc., the parent company of Medical Claims Service, announced Friday via a press release that “due in part to the recent downturn in the economy” they would be consolidating areas of their operations.

RMSCO, Inc. purchased Medical Claims Service in late 2006.

EBS-RMSCO also announced that Medical Claims Service will maintain their client services and sales staff in their Ravenswood office. The number of staff slated to remain at the Ravenswood location was not announced by the company.

All other areas of the Ravenswood operation are to be transitioned to EBS-RMSCO’s Liverpool, New York office.

This transition is scheduled to be completed within the next 120 days. In all, approximately 40 employees are affected by the move. All displaced employees have been offered a severance package and WORFORCE West Virginia will be assisting employees in the search for new employment.

Medical Claims Service has been in Ravenswood since February of 1989. It started as a small operation consisting of five full and part-time employees. As late as 2006, Medical Claims Service employed nearly 80 employees in three states.
